It is truly unfortunate that you are not always in the mood for circumstances and happenings that are forced upon you. Maybe you just got up on the wrong side of the bed so to speak. You are just not in a good mood and all of a sudden you need to deal with someone who is likewise in a bad mood. This is a setting for a disaster, especially if the person you are facing is someone who has authority over you, a valuable customer, someone whom you have met for the first time or even a family member. Being in a bad mood can be a disaster waiting to happen in almost any circumstance.

So, no matter how you try, you still have days when you aren’t your usual self. Here are some things you can do to deal with it in a positive way:

1. If you are among people you deal with regularly, it helps to acknowledge to yourself and those around you that you are in a bad mood. This in itself has a therapeutic effect. It gives notice that this is not a normal attitude and temperament and that it is strictly temporary.

2. Think of something pleasant that has recently happened to you. It will help you change what seems to be a mind fix.

3. Take a 10 or 15 minute breather to help you relax and get back on track.

5. Remind yourself that you really are a likable person. Don’t wait until you are confronted with a challenge before you seek a remedy for your bad mood.

6. Knowing that mood changes happen to you will remind you that others have mood changes too. Concentrating on the needs of others is a good way to be considerate when you are in a good mood. If you are in a bad mood, it is a good way to get your mind off of yourself.

Now you know the formula, you can be in the mood for whatever the day brings or at least be on the way towards being in that mood.

I just told my co-worker, Katy, Thursday morning "Boy I feel a bit grumpy today" and she is such an awesome team mate that within the hour my mood had cleared.  All because she simply gave me a little space, I needed it to shake the bad mood off~
