It would hardly be relatively easy to make a list of the many things you encounter in a day that are not within your control. The weather might be a good one to head the list. That could be followed by the economy and your share of the national debt.
One thing, however, that you can control is y our mood. Mood is simply a reflection of your attitude and you can certainly become very aware of your mood. Here is a good natured reply when someone asks you how you are today. Instead of a conventional reply, you might say with a broad smile, “Things could be a lot worse.” This is a way to reflect a positive attitude in a friendly way. You could then be ready with some positive statements.
Your positive statements will be welcomed and will add to the spirit of the occasion. With this for starters, you can surely keep your brain thinking positive thoughts in a creative way.

My grandfather used to respond to a typical "How are you?" with "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm a 14", even when his health was failing him.
I like to say, "Things are great...but it will get better!" Usually results in a chuckle or a puzzled look, either one is better than a frown :-)
