Have you ever had the experience of starting out on a task and while on the way, came onto something that you had been thinking about accomplishing and had been distracted. You took care of it but the same thing happened on the way to the second chore.  And at the end of the day, the first job and perhaps some others remained undone.  That is just one example of the powerful force of self-discipline.  Here are some other thoughts on the subject that have been accumulated by those who have been interested in maximizing themselves:

One of the things that will give a good start is to resign from the  “Someday” club.  That will put behind you the possible long list of things that you really intend on do but just have not just gotten around to it.   Then make self-discipline your way of life.  The development of self-discipline is the high road that makes everything else possible.  It often requires delayed gratification, the ability to put off satisfaction in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the future.  The ability to control your actions insures that your behaviors are consistent with your long-term goals.

It is interesting to contemplate the power of self-discipline.  It is something that can surely be profitably added to your every day actions.

thanks Greg, I needed that nudge. I learned last week from Steve at the TOPS presentation that "radical" change is the way to go. I will resign now from the "Someday Club" :)
