Is Your Dental Practice PCI Compliant?

The PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards) is the set of standards for companies that accept credit card transactions. If your dental practice stores cardholder data, it should be secured through PCI Compliance. This helps you keep sensitive patient data out of the hands of cybercriminals. Other things your practice can do to ensure security includes:

  1. Take a PCI self-assessment questionnaire.
  2. Conduct quarterly vulnerability scans.
  3. Partner with a provider that offers up to $100,000 in data breach-related expenses, hardware and software upgrades and consumer notifications.
  4. Never store credit card data, either manually or electronically.
  5. Stay compliant and aware of potential vulnerabilities.
