There is an interesting game you may have played in earlier years titled Follow the Leader This can have some significant educational advantages now in your more mature years. One of the precautions, however, is to be sure the leaders you choose are following a path that is worthy of the leader title.
Your parents were your leaders in your growing up years, but if they didn’t get along with each other and created contention in the home, you could profitably look for more worthy leaders to follow now that it is your turn to be parents. You might recall teachers that were constantly scolding and seldom if ever into positive reinforcement. You might have found some associates in your community service work who were more interested in self-promotion than unselfish service.
All this suggests the need for careful selection of the leaders you choose to follow. One of the most profitable uses for the great men in history is to use them as leaders. These are people you can look up to–to be your inspirers. If you follow heroes in the things in which they excelled, and ignore some of their less exemplary habits, following the leaders can be very profitable.
