Be as Versatile as President John Quincy Adams

It would be so boring to have a singular interest and to be always exercising it. Those with whom you associate would surely prefer someone with a broader interest in a variety filled world.

 

John Quincy enjoyed introducing variety into his life.  He was always seeking the company of people who had a variety of interests.   He had a law degree and used his education in many ways.  He voted his conscience regardless of the position of his party.  He maintained his family and home interests even when the everything around him seemed to be over-demanding.  

 

When his father’s employment created constant change in friends and school he adjusted without complaint.

 

All in all, he was an outstanding example of versatility.  We could all learn a lesson from President John Quincy Adams and seek to keep a broad interest in our variety filled world.
